Incoming! A frightening call. And what can one do about incoming except dive in the shelter or to the ground and cover your head? To stop a missile you need an early as possible warning of launch. Then you need an early as possible acquisition by a radar capable of tracking the target. Finally you need a system capable of hitting the missile in flight. But what if it misses? Then you need systems capable of detecting the failure and dispatching another interceptor to destroy the target. And, if that fails? How about prayer? The best defense against nuclear armed missiles is deterrence, and the second best diplomacy. Israel has deterrence. What it lacks is any coherent form of diplomacy. I hope deterrence works. . . As with the US, the rational FIRST line of defense, Diplomacy, has been rejected by the leadership.
