It seems that on an anecdotal basis, there are many cases of reported child sexual abuse within the haredi community. Is the incidence of child sexual abuse higher in the haredi community than in the NON-HAREDI JEWISH COMMUNITY? The non-haredi Jewish community is the most appropriate comparison group. The answer to this question should come from a study by a reputable sociologist, and the results peer reviewed. If the study shows that the incidence is in fact higher in the entire haredi community, or in specific segments of it, then the next question to ask is why, and what steps can be taken to lower the incidence. The safety of children is so important, you would think that haredi rabbis who lead this community would have commissioned such a study for the sake of protecting the children.
