For justifyable reasons, especially the brazen lack of accountability displayed by governments (read politicians) the public trust in the IDF is greater than the public trust in politicians. If the IDF screws up-the buck stops there and everyone knows it. Israel does not have the political culture as does Japan, where failed politians or leaders of companies apologize publically for their "sins" and then resign. "Convenient" is indeed the operative word here revealing the lack of integrity of our elected officials.
