In the past, Israel has responded to pressure to maintain the facade of a democracy. More recently, Obama told Israel that America would support them no matter what. Does this mean that the facade is no longer required? - Comment - Israel News | Haaretz Daily Newspaper

Obama has made a series of missteps with Israel from day one. First he criticized settlement but was challenged and silenced on the world stage by Netanyahu. Since then he has been Netanyahu's boy, supporting Israeli settlemtns and fighting a Palestinian state at the UN. Acting as Israel's cats paw against Iran, and keeping the river of money flowing from America to Israel. In spite of this, Israelis have no use for Obama because they think that he is not pro-Israel enough. The rest of us have no use for Obama because he is Israel's stooge and seems disinterested in his leadership role. This move by the Knesset ignores American advice and warnings, but, with Obama's assurance that America would support them no matter what, Israel feels that it has nothing to lose. Sadly, they are right
