I'm impressed with your article, indeed, impressed with the whole of Haaretz. Prior to this, I (like so many Europeans) had got my impression of Israel from the American press, and I'm as guilty as anyone of conflating the two and assuming that Israel and America "automatically" thought alike, which is unfortunate as America is an unpleasant place right now. In truth you seem to be nicer, saner, less aggresive and more thoughtful than Americans. Here's a suggestion: come and join the European Union. Let Lebanon and Palestine join too. Make a permanent peace, build a trust that allows free movement of people in the EU style, so that if some orthodox Jew wishes to live in the West Bank they can and if some Palestinian wishes to go back to live on the same spot as his grandfather in Israel, he can. You'll all be able to live and work anywhere in Europe too if you want. Stop all this fighting, it's counter-productive. It might seem impossible, but we did it, so can you.
