I remember the surroundings of Rehovot being beautiful, full of nature, full of orange groves (pardesim). Last 10 years most of this disappeared, the last bedouins left (the land they lived on for thousands of years being destroyed, cut up by fences and roads) and ugly high rises have appeared in nature areas. The old beauty of Israel is disappearing fast, even without a new national housing plan. I'm very afraid that within a decade, the country will be nothing more then one urban, american style modernistic ugly area.
