Love shopping at my local Supersol on our annual visits to T.A. Dealing with the mostly Russian staff is an exercise in frustration and joy. I can use my broken Hebrew and not feel guilty as everyone seems to understand me. I try in vain to actually make the cheese lady smile (haven't succeeded yet) and make sure that I do exactly what the dragon at the checkout tells me so I won't get shouted at. I have learnt to ask for Misloach (delivery) before starting to check out, dig under the mounds of fresh fruit and vegetables to get the best and freshest. Love seeing all the Savtas wheeling their little carts with their grandchildren in tow and the bread is the best in the world. I feel sorry for the tourists who never get a chance to visit a supermarket and see the real Israel. Where else can you visit a market at two in the morning and try to explain "bread crumbs" just using sign language and then have a good laugh with the young lady after she finally understands.
