Its a shame we couldn't buy or lease an island because it would have been ideal for many of Israel's needs. If we can't have the island we should look into the possibility of leasing a small Greek airbase. We could store some of our older aircraft there, to keep in reserve for if runways were destroyed in a war which in a missile age is very possible considering Israel's size. It would also serve as a base where we could send aircraft to incase if a war to avoid their destruction.. It also would mean that the IAF & Greek airforce could have regular exercises which benefits both countries. How expensive can it be to lease an airbase ?
