Since the Palestinians cannot and will not accept a two-state solution that does not include having their capital in East Jerusalem, this decision makes a one-state solution inevitable. Eventually, of course, this means an Arab-majority state. If this is what Israelis really want, then the Palestinians would be wise to agree, and to shift their efforts to demanding equal rights, a demand that Israel must agree to if it does not want to lose all international support, including American support, the way white South Africa did. At least there will no longer be any need to argue about borders, or over what is meant by a "Jewish state."
