What would happen if the Muslim Brotherhood took over Egypt and decided not to honor the peace treaty and we went to war. Whats better a war or a stable dictator like Mubarak? What if an anti west Egyptian government closed the Suez Canal... the world relies on that for transport of alot of goods including basic foodstuffs. What happens if the palestinian majority decided they wanted to topple the king of Jordan? The army is loyal to him not the palestinians and he won't go without a fight. In 1970 the PLO tried to topple King Hussain that resulted in 10,000 palestinians killed and many others who supported the PLO expelled. Do we want another Black September or a stable pro west king? Also what if he was toppled and the palestinians decided to use the jordanian army to invade Israel? What if the Saudi royals were toppled and we had an anti west government. Think of all that oil .. anybody remember 1973, just think of that and potentially times it by years until a pro west government takes over. Whats better crooked royals who spend billions on western products & make sure the oil flows or democracy? What happens. If even some of these things happened it could trigger a global economic meltdown. Even if Israel vanished into thin air the region would still be unstable but strategically important to the world. The arabs have never had democracy, you can't introduce it overnight ( it took centuries for the Europeans to get it right ). The kings & dictators provide stability which the world needs. We need to stop the revolutionary ripple effect because you topple to many leaders in a short space of time and its a recipe for disaster.
