The truth is probably somewhere in the middle. The bit of non idf footage that did escape the crackdown shows passengers giving medical assistance to an IDF soldier. Not the actions of terrorists. By trying to make themselves appear as angels facing terrorists the IDF has lost credibility amongst all except 'true believers'. If the IDF had left the footage alone, the narrative would likely be that the marmara was not one thing or the other, there was probably provocateurs (not terrorists) amongst peaceful protesters and the IDF botched the plan, put themselves in danger then went over the top with the shooting. When the IDF tell us the boat was full of terrorist (who gave medical assistance and were later freed), all it achieves is to convince us we're being lied to.

When senior party members spout vile anti-Jewish theories and at the same time insist they are in no way anti-Semites, they truly believe they are not lying.09:39 01.05.16 | 16 comments
Yael Patir, Israel director of the left-leaning U.S. Jewish body, sat down with Haaretz to talk about Trump, the gap between U.S. and Israeli Jews, and the growing anger at the Israeli peace camp. Though she concedes boycott efforts by some on the left have a negative effect, she rejects calls to keep peace efforts local.01:12 01.05.16 | 5 comments
