I would caution the IDF not to be over-concerned by the need for Israeli deterrence in such a way that gives both of Hezballah's patrons, Iran and the besieged regime of Syria, a way out. The provocation exists, and it is a limited one, trying to test whether Israel's nerves are edgy or resolute and calm. I hope the IDF's nerves are resolute and calm, and respond in a way that is also beneficial to Israel in the long-term.
