If President Bush is serious and is prepared to stand by his committments, he must do two things: 1) Make sure Prime Minister Sharon stops fooling others and respect his own committments and words. Is he going to have additinal settlements built, or not?! Is the Gaza withdrawl only the beginning of the road to Land for Peace, as he says to the Americans, or is it the beginning of a factual, albeit unofficial and slow, annexation of most of the West Bank, as is said to the right wing of his party (see word of his chief advisor, Mr. D. Weissglas)? 2) Make sure that by his own words and actions, and through words and deeds of Prime Minister Sharon, the position of President Abu Mazen is being strenthened and not weakened. If Abu Mazen fails to deliver to the Palestian people, he will be replaced by a most radical fanatic, or at best, by a Hamas man, and the third Intifada, will be upon us. All three parties - Israel, the US and the Palestinians have a chance to end hostilities and through a just solution to the Iaraeli/Palestian conflict try and mitigate the whole attitude of Moslims vis-a vis the West, thus greatly contributing to the fight against terrorism. Isn't this the most important task in front of you, Mr. President?!! If you succeed in bringing Peace to the middle East, thgus making the whole world a more peaceful place to live in, you will be considered by History as a great world leader. Please, for the sake of all of us, try and do it!
