We all understand that American support for Israel is very much a domestic political issue. I would say that this support is limited to the political elite rather than the general population and is tied to the generous funding given by Jewish/Zionist donors. But for all of this, I cannot see the USA devaluing its international reputation for Israel indefinitely. So far, automatic support for Israel has not exacted a high price, but this is changing. I wouldn't expect there to be changes in monetary aid or even diplomatic cover, certainly not in the short term. We know that Obama is pragmatic, we have seen the effectiveness of his 'leading from behind' re Libya - I hope he (and future administrations) adopt this strategy and allow or facilitate other actors taking a lead diplomatic role, namely EU, Turkey etc in the surety of firm USA support behind the scenes. I cannot believe that the USA will allow Israel to damage its international standing for too long.
