I took part in several demonstrations while I was an ISM volunteer in the West Bank in August 2010. In both Hebron and Al Walaja, the demonstrations were 100% peaceful. I went to 4 demos that month, during 3 of them the IDF charged at protesters and threw people down and arrested people. During 2 of them, sound grenades were also thrown at crowds. No one was throwing rocks or fighting back. I am aware that in some Palestinian villages people do throw rocks, but to suggest that the IDF do not attack unless they are attacked first by protesters is simply false. I have been there and have seen otherwise.
