As always, the IDF will produce a justification for murdering these innocent Palestinians: They were an "existential threat". Or, they would have become a "demographic threat". Or, their deaths were necessary for the "security of the State of Israel". Or, because atrocities have been committed in a civil war in Darfur, we therefore were justified in killing Palestinians in Palestine. Ditto any other armed conflict anywhere on the planet. Or, because Jews were displaced from Arab/Muslim countries following the establishment of the State of Israel, and even though Palestinians had no complicity or role in those displacements, and rather than take issue with the Arab/ Muslim countries and seek reparations from those countries, we were justified in murdering these Palestinians because we want their land in compensation. Or, because of a terrible tragedy that befell the Jewish people 70 years ago in Europe, we had the right to kill these Palestinians, because they wouldn?t walk away quietly and give us ancestral lands upon which they have lived and worked for many generations and for hundreds of years. And so on, ad infinitum.

Israel's angry, bitter left must reclaim the language of hope

We leftists whine and complain, we only talk about how bleak and hopeless life is in Israel. We alienate all those Israelis whose support we need to bring political change.
