Haaretz columnists and the talkbackers here have one thing in common. They wear ideological straightjackets. They are only interested in the "facts" that support their political viewpoint. Take a step backwards, forget your prejudices and analyze. Israel's sabre-rattling through leaks to the press coincided with the call for stronger sanctions. It coincided with covert operations to delay the Iranian nuclear programme so that these sanctions would have more bite. So, unless you are suffering from ideological myopia, the reason for the sabre-rattling is quite clear. A simple question. Who fears Shiite Iran the most? Sunni Saudi Arabia and the Gulf states where most of our oil comes from. So, Saudi Arabia is the decisive variable for a possible US (with or without Europe) attack on Iran, not Israel.
