Which was why both the joke and the barb at those of the Israeli right who have started to define 'Jew' in racist terms. To me it is an irony that if one were to say 'racism' in Israel 40 years ago they would have been construed as commenting upon the conflict between the Arab-Sephardic Jews who largely arrived in the 1950s and the European-Ashkenazim Jews who were looked down upon by the Sephardic, Arab looking, Jews who were in Palestine when the Askenazim arrived. Those who are attempting to make Judaism a 'race' for political reasons are dead wrong.
