I walk through the central bus station and the surrounding neighborhood every night at 11 pm to get to the train station. I've been raped, mugged and offered drugs exactly 0 times. I often stop at the Eritrian and Thai/Filipino cafes in the area for a bite to eat and made a lot of friends there - and they wouldn't think of harming a fly. Hell, I'll be honest, I feel safer walking through south tel aviv than I do walking outside many high schools. If you ask me, it's the guy who sees alot of black and southeast Asian people talking in foreign languages and automatically thinks "wow, this looks like a neighborhood of shady figures, I shouldn't walk around here at night" is the racist.
