    I respect him for his stubbornness, for not bowing to pressures from the US and others, and for steering off traps being placed for him in Lebanon, Iraq and the Turkish Kurds. He is a clever guy, in fact a very clever guy. Otherwise, Israel would have found out a way of toppling his regime. The Middle East is like a game of chess, you have to secure your self with every move, and Assad is a very good player. What I dislike about him, is his wide open doors to Iran. He should play clean and not owe Iran a favor that will haunt him in the future and would distract him from any future peace negotiations.
