Between Rivlin now endorsed and to become president and Uri Ariel and Bibi loudly pronouncing together today, "eternal Jerusalem shall never be divided...nor the land, river to sea...it's ours" I think any two state deal is gone forever. It will be something to watch (for non-Israelis) and to live through (for Israelis) this grim twilight struggle. "The Light Unto the Nations," flickering until today, just went out. Israel's reputation among the nations will get worse and worse, becoming ever more a pariah state. Casual anti-Semitism in the civilized Western world, deriving from the behavior of an occupying state power that insists there is no essential difference between "the Jewish People" and the state, aka "the nation state of the Jewish People and No Other," will increase. The whole toxic cycle of aggressive victimhood and self righteousness and aggression will spiral upwards. Man is born to trouble as the sparks fly upward. Sodom is reborn. The consequences will follow. These consequences, grim as they are, must be faced unflinchingly by sober realists.
