His report purports to demonstrate that Israel committed war crimes, and it uses unequivacal language to that effect. (If you don't believe me, you haven't read it.) However, in subsequest interviews, Goldstone has said the report proves nothing and is only intended to spur further investigations. The guy is talking out of both sides of his mouth. He also says that he couldn't get Israeli cooperation, and that's why the report is so one-sided. But if the report only takes one side into account, how can you present it in language that is so conclusive? And why did he never consult the many reports that Israel has published about Gaza? And why such a weak acknowledgement of Israel's efforts to have civilians leave the battle zones -- efforts that are unprecedented in the history of warfare, according to experts? And why no consideration of the need for new laws of engagement, as even the EU acknowledge are necessary? Israel makes mistakes, but so do UN investigators, apparently.
