Blair didn't invade Afghanistan and Iraq to stay in power. He was hugely popular before it. He invaded the countroies because he was obsessed with the US, and becvause he had some weird fantasy about going down in history as a liberator. Cameron wants to bomb Libya, to try to secure oil deals if Gaddafi falls, to try to emphasise that UK links with Gaddafi were all Labour's fault and again because he has weird historical fantasies. Nothing as cunning and coherent as staying power I'm afraid.
