In learning about anything, one must first understand that nothing is absolutely simple. That's true re abortion, one's sexuality, Hashem, or any other issue. There's not one truth and, as a Jew, we must constantly question and learn. We must always be on guard not to simply accept hype or the rule of one human or another. Neither Obama nor the Democratic platform want or encourage anyone to either have an abortion or be homosexual. Jews understand an individual's responsibility for one's actions. In that, we accept civil liberties and rights, one of the reasons America has always attracted Jews. Therefore, Jews must ensure that anyone who decides to have an abortion (for whatever the reason), have access to contraception, love whomever they choose, get equal pay (regardless of religion, color, sex, or sexual preferences), has those choices guaranteed by law. Today, there's a liberal in the Whitehouse. Next time, it could be a conservative or extreme Catholic, evangelistic Protestant, Muslim, or Jew. those safeguards must be in place, as provided by the Bill of Rights.
