When was the last time Iran (Persia) acted aggressively and started a war? 1826? And even then is was to regain territory lost to the Russian Empire. If they have acted aggressively even more recent than 1826, it sure hasn't been in the last century. The last war Iran was in was the Iran-Iraq war, and that was a defensive war because Iraq had invaded with the support of Western powers. Even after three decades of Islamic rule in Iran, it has not declared war on any other country or showed any direct hostility. Yet, in the last four or five decades, Israel has acted aggressively, started a few conflicts, illegally annexed and occupied the territories of two countries (Egypt and Syria), invaded Lebanon three times and then Gaza more recently. Oh, and they still illegally occupy and transfer citizens to three areas (Gaza, West Bank, and Golan), showing great disrespect to international law and the international community. Sure sounds like a peaceful, democratic country.
