For far too long Israel (as well as most of the world) has paid insufficient attention to environmental issues, as well as other domestic issues. Professor Alon Tal is arguably Israel's leading environmentalist so it is great that he has joined forces with Tzipi Livni, and I wish their combined party much success. This is especially important at a time when the world is arguably approaching a climate catastrophe, when, among other major problems, the Meditteranean Sea could flood the coastal plain where most Israelis live and Israel may also face a severe drought as rainfall is decreased, as the Israeli Union for Environmental Defense has predicted.
