There are a flood of people that are trying to distance themselves from this war. If it had not had such a dismal outcome for Israel then nothing would be said. Israel had several primary goals in the war. (1) Release the two captured IDF men, (2) Stop the Hizbollah rockets, (3) Disable or disarm Hizbollah, (4) Eliminate Nasrallah. Israel did not come close to completing any of these goals. In Addition, Israel killed many hundreds of civilians and destroyed a lot of Lebanons infrastructure, neither of which had any effect on the war or the primary goals of the war. It is hard to imagine a worse outcome for Israel without actually imagining Hizbollah pushing the IDF back across the border and then occupying Haifa. Olmert, Peretz, and Hulutz cannot wipe their fingerprints from this disaster, but every other person involved in any way will certainly try to do so.
