I am not religious, I do not believe in the Jewish God, nor any other God it needs be said, yet I am a Jew, one of the tribe of Judah, ready to fight for my people and my land. Nusseibeh cannot explain me, nor the majority of modern Jews who are secular. Nusseibeh seems stuck in the Islamo-fascist world, where even fellow Muslims of a different sect are considered apostates, and where one must profess the party line under threat to one's family. Islamo-fascism is the opposite of intellectual freedom. Too bad Nusseibeh comes out on the wrong side of this choice.
