If the story is true, it shows what hypocrites our conservative and liberal German friends are. Very slimy and understanding, what Israel's situation concerns, on the surface, and behind the scenes they are backstabbing Israeli security activities. The ghosts of Globke and Möllemann are haunting the Merkel-Westerwelle coalition. I personally prefer friends like Willy Brandt, Helmut Schmidt and Hans-Jürgen Wischnewski, who were true friends of Israel, which means they helped sorting out issues with the Arabs and also did not hesitate to talk "Tacheles" if necessary. It is a shame that President Peres only referred to his old buddy Franz Josef Strauss and not those former political friends of his when he talked in the Bundestag. Brandt-style diplomacy was often much more vital and helpful for Israel than sophisticated Nazi-stained Strauss weaponry.
