The huge, galaxy-shaped hypocrisy is a fact. But since Israel claims to be a modern democracy, and it is indeed not an empty claim, then it is perfectly alright to demand more from Israel than from dictatorships. This is the crux. And the open society in Israel, with excessive tabloid-media, among other things, creates the impression that Israel is the global villain par excellence, while the closed and repressive regime next door appears to be stable and nice. But this is about to change. The debate has been too absurd, really. But we, the israelis, should expect more from ourselves. We shouldn´t brag about that we are better then our repressive neighbours. Instead, we should work in order to be a better democracy. We should conquer that Nr. 1 spot that currently is occupied by.....(fill in your favourite state).
