The democracies of the West have indeed cravenly kowtowed to Arab dictators, because of their lust for oil. But at least those countries never claimed to be bastions of democracy, and no one tried to give them credit for it. Israel, on the other hand does claim to be a bastion of democracy. As many people have pointed out, elections, even free and fair elections, do not alone make a democracy. Occupation, harassment, humiliation, ethnic oppression, and apartheid are not democratic values. Nearly half of the residents within "de facto" Israel suffer from these conditions imposed by Israel governments of all parties aided by Quisling PA leaders.. The Palestinians, like the rest of the Arabs have had "enough of these leaders, enough of oppression, corruption, poverty and squalor." Israel could end its pariah status tomorrow by ending its illegal occupation, withdrawing to the 1967 borders, restoring its original democratic values and giving freedom to everyone in the area. It is that simple.

Why the Jewish establishment won’t condemn the occupation

Unless more U.S. Jews who oppose the occupation become members of established Jewish organizations and donate money, the establishment is unlikely to heed calls of those who want it to condemn the occupation.
