It is appalling, but unsurprising, that a cabinet minister would uses a metaphor equating immigrants with terrorists. Children, even children whose parents are not Jews, are born out of love and are human beings who deserve to be citizens of the country they are born in. The subtext to Yishai's racist statement is his recognition that it is demographics, not terrorism which threatens Israeli's illusory belief that there can and ought to be an exclusively Jewish state in the Middle East. Israel has to recognize that, even behind the green line, it is a multicultural nation and all its citizens deserve equal treatment and rights.Until then, Israel will not be a democracy.
