    "Zionism" ... "the word has no more current use than the term Risorgimento" Wow - wrong. Uniquely, Israel has been under constant existential threat for 60 years precisely because of Israel's Zionist underpinnings. These threats, expressed daily in the world media and in every UN meeting longer than a handshake, keep Zionism on the front pages of the world's media, unfortunately. Italy is not under such threats, and that's why the Risorgimento is only found in history books. It's hard to see how Prof. Strenger missed this. "Zionism once expressed the idea that all Jews should live in Israel. This is now as anachronistic as the concept that a good Jew should wear khaki, a pioneer's kova tembel hat and work the land." Also wrong. Although not all jews will make aliyah, a million jews made aliyah from the former Soviet Union, tens of thousands of jews made aliyah from Ethiopia, and thousands of jews make aliyah from France and the US every year.
