I look at my friends on the Left and I wonder, why? Why do they insist on condemning Israel for employing legal self-defense tactics? I get it: they forget the rockets that rained down from Gaza. They are quick to forget that Hamas and other terrorist organizations in Gaza consistently attacked Israel. But what about Gilad Schalit? All of this media coverage over "Free Gaza" and the flotilla, but not one word, not a single word, about how Hamas still is holding Gilad Schalit captive?! For Shame!! The blockade is in effect because rockets rained from Gaza onto Israel; because Gilad Schalit was kidnapped by Hamas; because Israel was condemned when she rightly sought to defend herself and remedy these wrongs; and because removing the blockade is the same as placing an unchecked Iranian port on the Mediterranean immediately adjacent to Israel. If you refuse Israel her legal right to blockade her Hamas and other enemies in Gaza, will you permit her to respond with fury to any attack originating in Gaza? If so, then you should make that perfectly clear. If not, then you are telling Israel that she may not defend herself. Free Gaza - from Hamas and Islamism. Free Gilad Schalit.
