...state of the UN to respect and deal with a government of an observer at the UN that does not recognize the right of another member state of the UN to exist? How could this be possible? Does it not stand against the very essence of the United Nations, its very principles on the basis of which the organization exists? Would the EU admit into its ranks or even deal with a state that explicitly calls for the elimination, annihilation of an EU member state? Why, therefore, deal with the Palestinian Authority and its government, controlled now and in a "unity" arrangement by Hamas, while it refuses to accept the right of a UN member state to exist? Why deal with it when the body that is central to it - Hamas - clearly, in its charter, calls for Israel's elimination? Is it because unlike any other state Israel is a Jewish state, hence treating it differently is acceptable......?
