I'm not sure what the Israelis thought they'd achieve, but it looks like the Turkish weren't fazed. I don't think it's wise to be provoking the largest (by far) millitary in the region, unless you want a confrontation... Do you really want the US to have to step in when the 'special relationship' is strained as never before? Because I bet they value their treaty-bound working alliance with Turkey over one that is costing them to haemmorhage money and influence.
