An article in Haaretz´supplement a few weeks back by Prof. Illouz, concerning the discrimination of Ashkenazim ( re Mizrahim) pointed out that the mentality of victimization sent Mizrahim into the arms of the religious, into less openness to the world, and led the Ashkenazim , who had suffered the holocaust, to the inability to understand the victimization they caused, precisely because their history made them cognitively unable to empathize. She quotes Baumberg, a social psychologist, who has examined the emotional destruction by the victims, of the next set of victims. This applies, in my mind, to what Israel does to the Palestinians too. When are we going to emerge into some kind of mental health, in which we are no longer defined by our victimhood, and again be able to understand where we are unaware of the cruelty we act with? Bibi, and the industry of holocaust manipulation, do the nation much harm.
