"call towards moderate muslim academics to end the widespread myth of Jewish caibalism" - Tulip Hello Tulip, Nice to hear from you again, and let's do it more often. I don't know which cannibalism is meant, the old "blood libel" of using human blood for Passover matzah? (Somehow, the story of 'the last supper' must have enhanced this charge. Jesus knew not what he was causing.) I wonder what the retiring professor was intending to do. Was he going to describe his work related to the myth, then conclude with a call to all to stop propagating it, or was he just going to call on Muslims to stop propagating it (without describing his work)? In the second case, the speech would have been just "political", so political considerations in shaping it could have been called for. As a scholarly speech, it would have appeared to me proper. I trust the Dutch are working this out. But if you know the outcome, please let us know.
