Only a couple of weeks ago, Netanyahu was quoted by Haaretz as saying that he can't negotiate with Abbas, because there is a split between the 2 major palestinian factions. The argument was that if we reach a deal with Fatah, Hamas may reject it, and vice-versa. Now that the pals have agreed to adopt a unified approach, Israel has moved the goalposts again - this time because they are united. So whether the pals are united or split, Israel finds a reason not to talk. Strange, that!
