All the dissent and warnings from Israel's security establishment regarding bombing Iran undoubtedly prompted the Israeli public to view the situation more cautiously. That, coupled with the prospect of looming elections in Israel, are the main reasons both Bibi and Barak reconsidered a pre-emptive strike on Iran. Both calculated it was in their political interests to hold off at this point.
