if the idf is to be believed, the woman in question was standing by her house when she inhaled tear gas and was then taken to a hospital. tear gas canisters like the ones that the IDF use travel very little from their target, usually only 5 meters at most. this is intentional; it is done to prevent people who are not in whatever crowd they're firing into from inhaling the gas. so the woman would have to have been standing less than 2 yards from the site of the canister, which would have effectively made her part of the protest anyway regardless of where her house was. the fact that there are pictures of her at the demonstration seems to support this. furthermore, regardless of what the hospital thought she had or thought she was affected with, when dispensed properly tear gas should NOT kill anyone. there should be NO reason for hospitalization. the effects SHOULD wear off within 30 mins to an hour without any treatment at all if they are using the american-made gas, which i assume they are. most likely what happened is that someone fired the canister improperly, aiming directly at her/her mouth instead of NEAR her (which is what you're supposed to do). the idf is trying to avoid blame as per usual but who's surprised at this point.
