Hi Kathy from Syracuse. I was born in Syracuse, NY - Syracuse General - back in the first half of the last century. "our leaders and our people are disgusted with the way Iraq handled Mr. Hussein`s execution." - Kathy The situation was more complex than that. The first response of the Bush administration was chest thumping approval. When the initial poll responses came in it turned to avowed disapproval. When one of Saddam's legal team tried to halt the execution, the Bush administration opposed the action and won the legal dispute in the US courts. The situation in Iraq was one where the local US officials opposed the execution on several grounds. That it violated the Iraqi constitution due to a holiday, that it would seem unseemly haste, that the public had not been prepared for the event. American authorities in Iraq were treated with equal contempt by both the Iraqi government and the Bush administration. "But it is not for us to interpret or enact Iraqi law." - Kathy Agreed
