Gilad was held in captivity longer than any other Israeli captive. Hamas upped their demands as they saw the hysteria here for his release. And they could have gotten more. They showed flexibility only when they realized that with the Arab Spring, they would soon face elections, and wanted to captialize on the release of 1000+ Palestinians. It is no coincidence that Palestinian elections were called for May, immediately following his release. The Arab Spring - that's what brought Gilad home. All those who pressured the Israeli gov't only pushed that day off. I know, folks, that it doesn't "feel good" to read that, but it's the truth.
