The foolishness of the U.S. throwing military might around is made plain by the fact that people around the world want a better economic situation, regardless of what ideology or religion may be popular. The towering examples are the former USSR and China, where making money and doing well are paramount where so recently capitalism was the evil of all evils. Or look at Vietnam, and those dominoes all ready to fall to communism, still communist but eroding under the desire for a better life. Iran's conservatives are right to worry, because the hope for a better future comes from within every country. That the U.S. has squandered so many lives and treasure on military adventures when the world would love to have the prosperity it enjoys and is actively seeking it, while military adventure only brings hatred, will leave history readers of the future scratching their heads over shoot-in-the-foot U.S. policy.
