The undergirding of Mr. Harel's argument is that Israel's policy of further settlement activity and theft of West Bank natural resources is not a threat to peace. Thus, all Israelis should be willing to take part in the wars, oppression and massacres that follow from this policy. The US is the only country that supports Israel without question. Without the US, Israel is dead. Despite this, Israel and its people seem drunk with power. True friends would not be enablers of an alcoholic friend. They would cut them off from support and force them into treatment. Already people like General Petraeus and others are questioning whether Israel is not more of a problem than an asset. If Israel continues its 43 year policy of settlements and creation of a Palestinian bantustan state, it may be in for a 9.0 size earthquake.
