Though I was as surprised and despondent as everyone, I now feel that the Hamas election victory will ultimately benefit Israel. At the least, the true objectives of the Hamas intent will be seen and hopefully judged in kind by the world community. In the best case scenario Hamas will figure out "which side of its bread is buttered on" and speak and act accordingly on public and private polices vis a vis Israel. Most unlikely, in my opinion is a continuation of the same subversive and irresponsible policies and actions that characterized Hamas while serving as the "minority" opposition. We (Israel) should be open to all positive Hamas overtures and reinforce them strongly, immediately, and appropriately.
