The goal of an Islamic palestine is as important to Hamas as is destroying the "zionist entity"In fact the war against Israel is their key vehicle to power in Palestine. In fact I think the internal struggle is their main goal with the war on Israel fullfilling a secondary but an important part of their racist impulses. The idea that they will agree to disarm is nonsense, once they have added dejure power to their defacto power Abbas will really be the figure head he is already useful to get donations which Hamas will funnel into their parallel Islamic welfare system. Indeed Hamas has been killing two birds with one stone for sometime, violence against Israel which ricochets onto the PA. It is of course possible that Hamas really believes their deluded manias of conquering Israel one day but it is more likely by keeping this conflict theoreticaly open ended they keep their relevance open ended as well, like the way Syaria gave the sahba farms to lebanon after the fact to serve as a pretext fro Hixbollah to maintain its arms to fight Israeli occupation of the last part of lebeanon. This conflict ensures the power of Hamas, but its real value to them is that serves as their vehicle to turn Palestine into an Islamic republic. Hamas must be one of the most clever groups of maniacs since the bolsheviks. They have read situation very well, and play their trump card against Abbas every time."we will use more violence against you than you will against us" they know it and so does abbas. They know when to attack and when not, it as all designed to advance their terrifying cause of the Islamic Republic of palestine. Hamas has won.
