Not all Jews oppose the appointment of Hagel, just the scaredy types who get their hyper-neurosis from turning Jewish suffering into an industry. If appointed I expect Hagel to still support Israel, but not right or wrong, the way Dennis Ross did, or several other right-wing Jews in the USA. There are sane Jewish and Israeli voices who know that if Hagel takes a balanced position from the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, we will have a win-win situation. Israel-right-or wrong not only got us Netanyahu, but also Lieberman. You can't do worse than that.
