I like Haaretz. Haaretz is one of my main sources of information about the Israel/Palestine conflict. I also like this article except for this: “when naval commandos were attacked by passengers wielding knives and iron bars. The commandos, who had been ordered to seize control of the ship and divert it to Ashdod Port, opened fire in self-defense.” When you write an article about a commission investigating “whether the soldiers' use of force was proportionate”, you can’t draw conclusions on behalf of the commission! We know that iron bars where used. Maybe knives where used, maybe not. Did the soldiers open fire in self-defence? Answering that question is part of answering the question “was the use of force proportionate”.
