OK, the Jews argue among themselves, nothing new here. But the US Jewish community is the greatest friend Israel has. So what are they advising Israel to do about Jerusalem? We know what J-Street is saying:;Construction in Jerusalem and the Territories is an impediment to peace. But what does AIPAC say, (1) "You build and we will take care of US politicians"? Or do they say, (2) "It's too hot a subject now, so cool it now and restart tomorrow"? Or do they say, (3) "Do what you think is right and we will support you"? My guess is (1). AIPAC is not interested in peace. Right after the Oslo agreement was signed, AIPAC pushed the Congress to mandate the transfer of the US embassy to Jerusalem, contrary to the wishes of then President Clinton and then PM Rabin. The idea was to undermine Oslo. But the transfer was such an outrageous thing to do to the peace process that both Clinton and Bush (the stupid one) refrained from doing.
